About Floatzilla:
What it is: Floatzilla.com is a new way to
quickly get information that matters to you. The links
you see on the front page and individual category pages are
there because the readers of Floatzilla.com thought they
were important or relevant.
Everything you see on the front page and on category
pages of Floatzilla has "bubbled out" of the Floatzilla
Queue.
Links get into the queue either by an automated feed from
somewhere or by members of the community posting them.
Any registered user of Floatzilla can vote on a link.
User votes determine when links bubble out of the queue as
well as how long links that have bubbled out will stay in
the system. Registered users can also report problems
with links. All users, registered or not, are free to
comment on links. Registration is, of course, free.
How To Help Links Bubble
Out of the Queue:
A link will bubble out of the queue once enough people
have clicked on it [to read whatever is being linked to],
voted on it and, most importantly, ranked it highly enough.
You can help other links get out of the queue by voting
highly on them - or keep them from leaving the queue by
voting low. If a link does not make it out of the
queue within 4 or so days it will disappear.
How To Submit:
While browsing either the home page or a category page of
Floatzilla, click the "Submit" link on the right-hand side
of the page. Depending where you are in the site, the
category may or may not be pre-filled for you.
1) Choose a category and subcategory for the submission.
2) Paste the URL of what you're linking to
3) Enter a title and description about the link. The
more descriptive you are the more likely your link will
bubble out of the queue.
4) Enter the characters from the graphical box then click
Submit.
5) The system will search for possible duplicate links.
If there are none, click Submit again and you're finished!
Unless you disable the feature in your member profile, the
system will email you each time your link is commented on
and again when your link bubbles out of the queue.
Commenting On A Link:
All Floatzilla users, registered or not, are free to
comment on links. Floatzilla's comment system is
threaded so users may reply to individual comments instead
of just generating one long, difficult to follow
conversation thread. Comments can also be ranked.
If you think a comment deserves to stick out above the rest,
rank it highly (+1, +2 or +3). If a comment is
slanderous or off-topic, you know what to do.
Problem Links:
Links may have problems with them, depending on what
category they are in. A deal may have expired already,
a story may have a bad link, or a knowledge submission may
be grossly inaccurate. These are major problems that
go beyond deserving a low ranking. Instead of ranking
them low, report the problem with the "Problem Link"
dropdown box. Enough problem submissions will take a
link off the site.
Work In Progress:
Floatzilla is a new site and is a constant work in
progress. Our goal is to build features that our users
want to see and that will make the experience more fun,
efficient and useful. Please feel free to leave us
feedback, suggestions or bug reports by clicking the
